| Free laptop computers welcomed by students |

The pilot project, One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) is in full swing in Nakhon Nayok; though there must be some concern as to how these computers can be powered. Many students do not have electricity at home and the idea that they can be powered by solar cells is admirable: however, I wonder how practical it can be? Some social commentators might question the amount of money being spent on a project like this. As there are many different educational problem areas that need attention at this time, the money could be better spent on more worthy causes, for example improving the existing school buildings, more teaching resources and of course, more teachers.
